List making

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I’m a list-maker (list-lover?). I have a shopping list, a study list, a work list, a personal list and a goal list. Right now I also have a list of blog posts I want to write, a list of food I will cook for Christmas and a list of the things I must pack for Woodford Folk Festival. I even made Woodford lists for all my friends – lucky they know what I’m like and are grateful for my over-organisation skills, not offended by them! Lists do kind of rule my life.

List making seems to run in our family. Koren is a list maker from way back and our older sister, Candy, she makes lists too.

Sure, sometimes my lists really peeve me off. I just want a rest and there’s that darn list glaring at me, wanting some attention.

But the weird thing is, most of the time, lists keep me calm.  When I have a gazillion things wizzing around in my head  and I start to feel stressed and anxious, like I’m never going to get everything done and that I’m bound to forget something, it’s the list that keeps me sane. I pencil it in and instantly I feel better. It’s so much easier to get organised when I know all the things that need organising.

Oh, and I’m slightly addicted to that feeling you get each time you cross something off.

Yup. Lists. They’re pretty awesome.

Are you a list-maker? Or a list-breaker?

Love Alana xx

  1. I have exactly the same affliction Alana, although I used to not only relish the crossing off of an item but I had to neatly liquid paper it out. I’ve weaned myself off the liquid paper now but I totally appreciate the mental importance of a god list! :)

    • That’s great Kris! I actually have got quite a soft spot for OneNote now. So slowly my lists are becoming more electronic :-)
