A little while back, armed with some index cards, Blu-Tack and a bunch of cool connector pens, Alana and I decided to start our very own gratitude project. We agreed that each day for a whole month we would find something to be grateful for, however big or small. We jotted down these thoughts and stuck them to the back of our kitchen door, where we could see them morning and night.
I must confess, I quickly became very slack with this project and would often find myself days behind and hurriedly filling out five at a time, much to Alana’s dismay. But, regardless of our different approaches, we both realised rather quickly that we have much to be happy and grateful about in our lives. We just had to make the conscious choice to focus on those things. And doing so made us happier! How lovely.
A few months on and I’m once again being reminded just how much I have to be grateful for. For the past month I’ve essentially been homeless as I wait on a visa that’s taking just a taaaaaad longer than expected. But I’ve not once been short of a bed as friends and family gladly open their homes and lives to accommodate me.
So a huge thanks to Mum and Dad, Candice and Frew, Jess, Andrew, Sarah and Luke and Talia and Rob (yes, I’ve been moving around quite a bit!) for making me feel so at home. And a special thanks to Alana, who even let me share her own bed on the few nights that I had nowhere else to stay. I’m truly grateful and blessed to have such wonderful people in my life. ❤
