Botanica

Tipped off by the Mother Down Under, this last Saturday just passed, I took a stroll to our newest neighbourhood café, Botanica. The café is nestled away in a tiny little spot on the corner of Musgrave Road and Enoggera Terrace, right next to the Cockadoodle café (you should try their coffee too it’s amazing!).

As soon as I opened the door I was hit with the smell of freshly baked goods. My mouth watered as I spotted the array of bright-coloured salads and the delicious sweets lined up in the window.

There are no spots to sit down; it’s a simple get in and get out kind of style but honestly this  does not matter. I arrived at about 1pm and the little café was packed full of people all waiting to grab a salad box or two. I took that as a good sign.

What a joy it was to be greeted by the super-friendly wait staff who, when I said ‘I’m vegan’, did not look at me like I had three heads. Instead she nodded politely and then pointed out all the different salads I could choose from.

With my salad packaged up in the cutest box and my tummy growling after smelling all those yummy smells, I pretty much rushed home and dived into my lunch. The salads were, as I suspected, delicious! And surprisingly filling.

I’m currently on a detox so unfortunately couldn’t indulge in the delicious baked goods lined along the front window. But a couple of weeks ago Koren hit Botanica with a friend and kindly brought me home a vegan chocolate brownie. It was goo-oo-ood!

If you live around these parts, why not support this cute, kind-living café and drop by for lunch or grab an early dinner. I believe they also offer a catering service.

  1. Their food is so good isn’t it!
And I love that it is take away with none of the guilt usually associated with take away…it is wholesome and filling and delicious!
I am so glad that you liked it!

    • Oh it was soooo good and yes, so guilt free. We need more places like this around town. Have you checked out My Heart Garden in St Lucia? That one is on my list for my next Foodie Fun post :-)
